
What Causes Severe Itching On The Body After Taking Norflox TZ?

Myself XXXX XXXXXXX and I practice in XXXXXXX
i have taken one tablet of Norflox TZ and had a tea after it. i have taken this medication numerous times for upset stomach. however this time there is severe itching at specific points such as back, groins and between the fingers with large hives and centrally necrotising lesions. i have taken Avil 50mg on day 1 and Atarax 25mg on day 2....still i have no relief. please suggest.

All quinilones including norfloxacin are known to have allergic reactions. Sometimes even severe anaphylaxis has been noted.
The skin lesions that you are having could be due to norfloxacin. you should stop norflox tz immediately and continue antihistaminics. In case the lesions do not subside or increase, you may need a course of steroids. I suggest you consult a dermatologist who can examine the lesions because serious skin allergy like Stevens Jhonson syndrome is known to occur with norflox.
Though tinidazole may also cause allergy but it`s not very common.
