Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for posting your query in HealthcareMagic,
Persistent itching could either be a skin condition (pruritis) or it could also be due to any underlying condition involving kidneys, iron deficiency or thyroid problem.
I would suggest you to get the following investigations done so as to rule out any major conditions and then proceed further with proper line of management:
- Kidney function test
- thyroid profile
- complete hemogram
Meanwhile, start on T. Cetrizine 5mg twice daily for 1 week, but if you are presently occupied, i would advice you to take T. Fexofenadine once daily for 1 week.
Also apply Calamine lotion over the areas affected.
If the reports are normal, you can consult with a dermatologist and discuss for options including cortico-steroids for a shorter period.
I hope this helps,
Please feel free to discuss further or else kindly close and share your positive feedback,
Regards
