What Causes Severe Lacerations Under Swollen Tongue After Having Meftal And Duphalac?

default
Posted on Fri, 27 Jun 2014
Question: I was prescribed Meftal spa twice a day X three days along with Pantazol once a day X 5 days for a recent stomach pain and constipation. Was also prescribed Duphalac Liquid and Digecaine for the same. Two days into starting the course, I developed severe lacerations under my tongue, as well as swelling and teeth imprints around the edges of the tongue, with severe pain making it impossible for me to talk or swallow. Is this a reaction to any or all the above medicines? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of allergic drug reaction

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic,

After going through your symptoms, I suspect the possibility of drug reaction towards Mefenamic acid present in Meftal spas tablets.
I do have seen many cases in my clinic like same who were allergic to pain killers (NSAID drugs).

I suggest you to consult your family physician , as you may require clinical examination of your lesions.
Mean while you can take Betadine mouth gargles 5 times a day and some local anaesthetic mouth gel like Rexidin-s
