Brief Answer:
Can be electrolyte imbalance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Muscle cramps most of the time occur for no known reason, and they're harmless.

Sometimes, it can be due to dehydration, muscle fatigue or electrolyte abnormalities. It is better to drink sufficient fluid and also see that your intake of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium ) is sufficient. You can drink Oralyte for this. Do get your electrolyte levels evaluated too.

I hope this answers your query.

I take 120mg Lasix a day at three 20 mg in morning and three 20mg in afternoon and 20mg potassium once a day in morning. I have tests to keep it in the right amounts because of my heart CHF but most always if we change the potassium amount it doesn't go away ever. I have anemia and yes I drink plenty of water with Sonic ice as I go thru a bag of Sonic Ice every three days plus water. My friends tell me I need to rest more but I do rest my Thyroid is perfect with my meds I take a blood thinner also simvastin I constantly ask all my Drs why everything as far as the test go are fine my renal test was up a bit but I can't say this is the cause When my swelling from my CHf goes down the cramps get worse, but it is always there the sever cramping why my jaw or ribs or hands. Is there a test to see if the muscles or b ones or blood is causing this. My God I feel it will hit my heart or lungs my husband has told them how sever it gets and I'm treated as if ok to have this as they don't know what it is. I'm tired of this horrible pain and yes I take pain meds you'd think it would control the pain I'm wearing out because of the time I suffer especially in the night.I can't even clean or cook to much knowing I will wear out before I'm finished. Is there a disease that causes this because I'm tired of this with my tests with my potassium is fine.Yet I know the cramps will come no matter if I do nothing or everything. Why can't this be stopped.I feel like I'm going crazy because no matter what I do it happens whether I walk, sit. They tell me to stray active I have but lately this has made me worn out yet to stay active which I'm not lazy even standing doing dinner and doing the dishes it still happens. My legs feel weak when I walk like they are a weaker part of me like I may fall they feel brittle in a way.I feel they will give out on me always sore because of the cramps just thought I had a strange disease that is rare as this is not normal been happening since I broke my hip and femur a couple of years ago from a fall. Could it be from the metal I have in my hip and femur on my left side. Could this metal be causing all my cramps if I'm allergic to this. metal. Could this be it. I'm so sorry for asking but I have so much to be happy for and I have energy until this hits I'm tired of suffering Could this cause anemia also with cramps. There has to be a answer why. I take blood tests constantly to make sure my electrolytes are fine. I'm not heavy I weigh only 118 I'm 5 feet 3 inches I'm small. I have energy until around 3 in the afternoon because of lack of sleep. Up until the fracture of my hip and femur I had energy no cramps I know I'm wasting my time because my Dr's don't know guess I should realize no one will figure it out. Thank you for suggesting but no That's not it. Thank you though. I just hate living like this. I feel so bad for my family and husband to see me like this.

Brief Answer:
Can be a side effect of simvastatin.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The muscle cramps that you have are not likely to be related to anemia or implant in the leg. If the electrolyte levels are normal then taking lipid lowering drugs like simvastatin can also cause such side effect.
You can avoid taking it for a few days and see if it improves. Taking an oral muscle relaxant will also help.
Hope my answer is helpful.
