What Causes Severe Pain Around Anus After Having Straterra?
Question: Hello,
I have an anal fissure currently and when i take my straterra the pain considerably incrases.. Why is this? My Psych is out of country so whatshouldido? I fear if i stop straterra for a week or so the titrate will be gone, but i also think my fissure will not heal if i dont stop taking it... :( the pain is so great for hours after taking it and i have no ifea why, i dont feel much spasms in the sphincter or anything but it just hurts so bad.

Straterra is a drug that contains Atomoxetine. Among the side effects of this drug Constipation is a very common side effect and because of constipation you are feeling increasing pain in your anal fissure.
The solution for this is to increase your intake of fibre in your diet especially eat more vegetables and fruits and avoid non veg food . Drink plenty of water.
If in spite of doing this , you are not getting any relief ask your doctor for a prescription for Lactulose syrup and use it . This will soften your stools and reduces your fissure pain .
Till your Psychiatrist returns keep following these instructions and keep continuing straterra , once you get his appointment ask him for a better alternative.
