Question : HI Dr. Rynne,
I had a gallstone removed from my bile duct on 7/19/16 and my gallbladder removed on 7/20/16. ON 9/2/16, I had the stent removed. In the past 5 days I have had a clear discharge from my belly button and pain around the same. Today, the pain is expanding further and the discharge is more bloody. Can you advise me on what this means? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Possible bile duct erosion and leakage?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam

I can certainly understand your concern.

This clinical history of yours suggests leakage in the bike duct.

Thus requires an early ERCP (an endoscopic procedure ) to identify leaking bile ducts or blood vessels.

You should see your surgeon at the earliest, before infection settles into the leaking fluid.

An ultrasound abdomen however can be the preceding investigation to identify the issue to some extent.

Further management if any is largely based on test results.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
