What Causes Severe Pain In Temple Region?

default
Posted on Wed, 6 May 2015
Question: I am getting ice pick pains to mostly my righ temple but left temple happens too. I am taking gababentine to prevent this from happening but it's not working. There are controversial thoughts on the cause. My current migraine specialist insists these are seizures. My past neurologist says they are part of my chronic migraines. What kind of seizures are these & and what is the impact of these seizures?

Brief Answer:
They can be partial seizures, but confirmation needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

At your age migraine headaches should have been more infrequent.

Those pains you describe could be related to partial seizures arising from temporal lobe. ( without Los of consciousness)

This needs to be confirmed by tests ( EEG) and possibly a brain MRI ( to exclude any mass that may cause your symptoms.

I suggest you to discuss with your Neurologist about these issues.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Are these partial seizures harmful to me in the long term?
The Migraines are results from 2 auto accidents.( Both accidents involved women & their phones)I have cervical vertigo & BPPV too)
Also I have a pituitary adnoma and an MRI is in order in May, when I return home.
Many thanks regarding harm & seizures.

Brief Answer:
Seizures may be harmful.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for asking back.

If these symptoms are confirmed to be partial seizures, they have the risk of evolving into generalized seizures, a condition potentially harmful.

Pituitary adenoma usually is not related to seizures or intense headaches.

Trauma episodes contain the risk of developing seizures, besides other symptoms.

Wishing you good health.
