Hi.
Thanks for your reference.
To recapitulate: Male/78 - woke up with a pain emanating from solar plexus area - feels like indigestion - burping - drank water ...
Please give additional information for me to assist you better:
What is the type/character of pain? Burning, twisting, throbbing, sharp and piercing?
Any referred pain to the back, chest, left arm?
Any nausea, vomiting?
Sweating?
Any loose stool, pain in other part of abdomen, noisy peristalsis?
I hope you do not have diabetes or hypertension or any other medical problems.

The pain in the solar plexus can be due to:
Gastritis, ulcer
Pancreatitis
Gall bladder pain
Rarely Heart attack
Stomach volvulus...

Even on slight doubt it is best to get an EKG done to rule out cardiac cause.
Clinical evaluation, examination, investigations as needed like Ultrasonography, tests of blood help further.

You may please take a PPI like Omeprazole stat.
Take an antacid and repeat every three hours if gastritis is suspected.
See the results and if there is doubt report to ER ASAP.
