What Causes Severe Pain In The Kidney Area Radiating To The Abdomen?

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Jun 2023
Question: I have a severe pain that starts on my left side around the kidney area and radiates around my side towards the front. Had a ct scan with contrast and nothing found, no swelling of the kidney, no abnormalities. My doctor did not order an x-ray and now wants to do a sonogram but I can't get one scheduled for two days. The pain keeps getting worse. I put an ice pack on the area and that seems to help. Any thoughts?

Brief Answer:
It may be musculoskeletal pain or spasm or sprain.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

As you have already undergone a CT scan with contrast and there are no abnormalities, I don't think you have to do X-Ray or ultrasound. In my opinion, the most probable cause is musculoskeletal pain or sprain or spasm.

If Tylenol is ineffective, you can take tab. Metaxalone tab. Diclofenac. You can apply diclofenac gel or spray locally. Along with that apply ice pack locally.

Do regular physiotherapy after consultation with a physiotherapist. Don't do a stressful activity like lifting heavy weights, etc. I will suggest to follow up if you have any query or consult with orthopedician for a detailed examination.

I hope this will clarify your concern.
