What Causes Severe Pain In The Thigh Muscles After A Fall?

Question: My 64 year old husband fell off a ladder a few minutes ago. He is in a lot of pain but doesn't feel it warrants going to the ER. He says he pulled a thigh muscle bad. Should he apply ice or heat? He was going to try and drive home. I'd appreciate an answer. Thank you!

I have read your query.

You should apply ice for two days thrice a day.

In addition I advise you to have visit orthopedic surgeon if possible, he may advise you xray of the affected part.

You can take any painkiller which is available over the counter, if possible apply painkiller ointment till you manage for doctor.

Avoid any type of activity till then.

Thank you for your advise. He is able to walk on it just fine. The way he landed affected the mid to upper thigh. He said the ice has helped a lot, and has taken Ibuprofen for pain/inflammation. Thinks he will be fine to return to work on Monday. Thanks for answering so quickly. I will be sure to leave you a good review.
