What Causes Severe Pain Under Lower Ribs?

Question : I have severe pain under my right lower ribs mainly round the back, plus belching, nausea, cold sweats feel faint and general abdominal pain around my intestines. My bowel movements are awful slushy and orangey.
I recently came off paroxetine, and have been told this part of the withdrawal symptoms. Back on it again
I admit I am depressed and anxious, but cannot believe this pain does not have a physical causation. Am thinking of going to A & E tomorrow as I don't think a g.p can help me any further.
Do you have any advice please

Hi and thank you for asking HCM!

I read your query and understood your concerns. With regards to your pain it may be related to:
- Gallbladder problems (infection, sludge)
- Bowel problems
- Gastritis/ulcer

If I were your treating doctor I would recommend you to perform further examinations in order to determine the right diagnosis:
- Abdominal ultrasound
- Blood work
- Upper endoscopy

You are saying that you have used ibuprofen which may upset the stomach and could aggravate/or cause gastritis/stomach ulcer. This is why I recommend using ibuprophen after meal. Moreover I would like to suggest taking a PPI (such as omeprazole) and buscopan .
