Question : Son has projectile vomited 3 nights out of the last 6. Then has watery diarrhea almost at the same time. During the days and the nights in between he has seemed perfectly normal even normal bowel movements. No fever and if anything feels cold after throwing up. Is this a virus or what else could be causing this?

                                    Brief Answer:
acute gastroenteritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanjs for query.
Your son symptoms refer mostly to an acute gastroenteritis. Most likely in children is caused by Rotavirus and is self limiting(will take about 3-5 days). For the time being, I'd suggest to give him more water, take tasectan probiotics to stop diarrhea and oral rehydration salts (O.R.S) for dehydration.
If his diarrhea and pain do not have any improvement within a couple of days, then, should go for some more investigations to identify the real culprit. I'd suggest, then, to do an abdominal ultrasound, fecal examination for ova/parasites, feces occult blood, leucocytes in feces, and complete blood profile.
Hope it answered to your question!
