Brief Answer:
Colonoscopy required

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

His symptoms are not to be ignored since there are signs of possible colon pathology. In most cases, this is caused by benign issues such as hemorrhoids, polyp or prostate hyperplasia. But at his age, some more serious things should be ruled out so he should get a colonoscopy done.

Before this, it would be good to check the hemogram. His cramps may be a result of minerals and vitamins deficiency so I suggest taking magnesium and calcium supplements.

Hope I have answered your query.
