What Causes Severe Sweating, Rapid Heart Beat, Dizziness And Vomiting During A BM?

Question: I am a 75 year female. Felt fine this morning. But later when having a bm I started sweating, vomit once, heart beating fast, slight dizzy. Now 6 hours later sweating has stopped as have other symptoms except for racing heart. Need to do anything ? Thanks

I carefully read your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to vagal nerve reflex.

I recommend you to have some rest and closely monitor your blood pressure and heart rate.

If these symptoms get worse instead of improving, it will be necessary going to the ER for a careful physical examination and some tests:

- a resting ECG to exclude cardiac arrhythmia
- a chest X ray study
- some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, sedimentation rate, blood electrolytes, fasting glucose).
