Brief Answer:
Here is some detail about it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for writing back,

I hope you have been having a safe and great weekend and your pain is better.

I tried to rule out a few things by asking you questions and main thing which i ruled out was the stomach issue because stomach upset can cause piercing pain as well..

According to your answers it does not seem to be stomach issue it seem to be musculo skepetal pain(can be muscles if rib).

Due to sever coughing muscles of chest can be pulled or a rib joint can get bruised and strained.

Here is what i would suggest you to do in this situation.

1) Work to get your cough better.... you can use OTC anti cough syrup, protect yourself from things which may give you allery like dust, pollens etc.

2) warm compress the place which pains.
3) You can use Tylenol for pain.
4) Rub ibuprofen or diclofenac cream.over the area twice thrice a day.
5) Just to cover stomach as a precaution, tak syrup gaviscon thrice a day for 5 days.
6) Avoid smoking, alcohol..sour foods, spicy foods, fizzy drinks( what ever is relevant in.your case)

This thing should get better in 3..4 days, take care of your cough , its important for the cough to get better in order to make you better.

Stay blessed.

Best regards.

Dr.Ahmad.
