What Causes Severe Upper Arm Pain?

Question: Can you help with severe upper arm pain? have had this pain for 3 or 4 months when I move my arm right to left as in a golf swing . Thank yoou ---I am 86 years old if that helps

I read your question and i understand your concern, Pain in upper arm on moving from right to left at age of 86 is likely osteoarthritis also called age related articular degeneration. With advancing age, the lubrication of joint decrease and the ends wear off. That causes pain. Treatment is fully supportive with pain killers, muscle relaxants and if severe pain, intra articular cortisone injections can be tried.
