Question : Hi, my 11 year old sister has gone from weighing 110 lbs to 86 lbs over the course of three weeks! A total of 24 lbs. The weight loss is due to the fact that she is not eating or drinking frequently. She claims that eating and drinking give her a feeling of painful "fullness" after eating the most minute amount of food. It has gotten to the point where she has visited gastroenterologists who were unable to find a cause. She is going for an endoscopy on Friday to investigate further. This is really worrying my and I want answers now. Do you know what it could be?

Brief Answer:
Most likely disturbed g.i flora.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query,
As you said all the blood profile i think the fullness is because of her disturbed gastrointestinal flora. Our gut consists of its own environment of micro organism called gut flora. They are responsible for proper digestion of food.Once this flora is depleted by toxins many of G.I symptoms like loss of appetite ,feeling of fullness can be there.
i would suggest you to take a good probiotic for 2 weeks. This will again replenish the depleted flora. Once the flora is replenished intestinal motility and secretions will be improved.Along with it digestive enzymes like Papain and Amylase can be taken twice daily before taking food for a week.Sylimarin a potent liver tonic can also be taken for a few days.
Till the time endoscopy is done follow the above mentioned advice.
Apart from medicines some suggestions for her are-
Eat a lot of fiber in diet 30-40 gram per day.
Have ispaghula husk 2 tsf twice daily.
No burger, pizza, over fried or spicy food.
Take lots of yogurt in diet.

Follow up with endoscopy report. If its not inflammatory bowel disease then its her disturbed G.I flora which is causing the problem.
Thanks
