Question : What could be a cause for sharp needle like pain 2 inches or so below the belly button and slightly to the right. I eat healthy, workout and have regular bowel movements. I have only been sleeping 5 hours a night due to having trouble resting my mind. I do not have regular periods and was on Nuva ring for 2 months. Last periods were April 7th and may 1st. I still have not gotten my period.

Brief Answer:
Can be appendizitis or adnixitis

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,

possibilities are that this is caused by a mild form of appendizitis or adnexitis (inflammation of tube and/ or ovaries). Another cause can be kidney stones. When someone with your symptoms comes to my office i try to rule that out by ultrasound and blood work (inflammation signs like white blood count, sed rate, crp). After birth control like nuva ring it can be normal to not have periods for several months. This is not necessarily associated with your pain though.

Hope this is helping you if you have questions about my answer please get back to me.
