Question : Hi - I have been having a sharp dull pain that (lasts a second or two or less) on and off since yesterday afternoon around 4pm, so just over 24hours. it seemed to settle last night but re-appeared today. It seems to be felt more around half way down my back but feels deeper than back pain perhaps stomach or chest related. It seems to occur more when seated but also when I am stood up. I do suffer from excess wind/stomach gurgling and take omeprazole for this prescribed by my doctor for over a year. I have not had this type of pain before. I am concerned it could be heart related. I do not have any shortness of breath or pain in my chest or elsewhere and am functioning normally aside from this intermittent pain. I am currently on vacation in Morocco. If not heart related I wonder if it could be related to the gerd/acid.

                                    Brief Answer:
Ultrasound scan of abdomen and pelvis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
The pain you explain to be in the halfway down your back could indicate kidney pathology. Most of times stones in the urinary tract could present this way. Such stones are very common in men of your age.
I would suggest you to get a Ultrasound scan of the abdomen and pelvis and a urine routine analysis done to rule out the same.
I do not consider the possibility of a heart related condition here. Though such pains can be seen due to gas, I would recommend to rule out the urinary stones once.
Hope, I answered your query.
Wish you good health.
Regards,
