What Causes Sharp Pain In Left Hip Joint While Walking?

default
Posted on Wed, 17 Sep 2014
Question: I am experiencing erratic, sharp pain in my left hip joint while walking. It started about a month ago after I turned and heard an audible "snap" in the joint and has continued off and on since then. When it hits, the pain is probably a 9 on a scale of 1-10. It may last 5 minutes, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer, then it goes away until the next episode. Multiple episodes a day and it feels like the pain is in the actual ball and socket of the joint. Can you tell me what it could be and what type of Dr. I should see?

Brief Answer:
consult an orthopedic surgeon

Detailed Answer:
hi XXXXXXX
welcome to healthcare magic.
From the history that you have given, it appears to me that you have probably pulled a ligament around the hip joint while turning around.
Since then, as you have continued to work around with the injury in place, it has worsened to the extent of 9 out of 10 pain scale
It is important to give rest to the joint till you consult an 'orthopaedic surgeon' who will evaluate your hip and suggest appropriate treatment.
All the best
