Question: doctor, I have been having slight shooting pain in around the shaft and tip of my penis, no pain while urinating, no pain in the scrotum, I do although have a very veriococele and hydrocele. I have recently started to exercise vigorously I do have a bad back ,could this be causing it. I recently had A cystoscopy, lower CT scan and blood work done and nothing came up the reason for these tests were or microscopic hematuria.

Brief Answer:
Vigorous exercise can aggravate varicocele.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, let me advise you, that vigorous exercise, can aggravate your back pain and varicocele.
Avoid strenuous exercises, like back stretching and weight training.
If the varicocele is low grade and hydrocele is small, leave it alone.
I'm happy that your micro-hematuria, is fully investigated, and probably ended, with a diagnosis of ' FAMILIAL' hematuria, with a histiory of it running in your family.
Don't worry about it all, as it causes no harm to the kidneys and is non-progressive.
Wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
Pain may be transient only.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Hope your diagnosis of varicocele and hydrocele, was made after a scrotal doppler scan. I think the pain in the shaft and tip of penis, can be cleared after the examination by an Urologist.
It may also be transient and not significant.
You can wait this week and see if it persists.
Wish you well.
