What Causes Shooting Left-sided Pain On Head?

Question: I have pain on my left side of my head like lightning comes and go .for 3 to 5 second

Hi and thanks for using HCM.

I am so sorry to hear about severe pain that you have reported. Its description makes it suggestive of trigerminal neuralgia. The drug of choice here is Tergretol. However, I will like to know for how long this has been going on. Also, you would need to talk to your doctor for confirmation and management as this medication can only be gotten through prescription.

They are often provoked by activities such touching, eating, shaving, combing, etc. Identify them and try to avoid them so as to limit the frequency of episodes.

I will recommend you go with Tylenol and Ibuprofen on regular schedule(3 times daily) at doses recommended by your pharmacist for a minimum of 72 hours. If this fails to control the pains, then you would require further investigation and management.
