What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Dizziness?
Question: Hi,
Used to be able to walk 3-4 miles a day, but lately I have no energy, shortness of breath and dizzy just checked my BP 104/68 I'm on BP medicine I'm 68 yrs old Saw my VA doc last week and ran a electro cardiogram and having an echo cardiogram on Wed. When I try to walk have to stop to just get my breath. I read about pulmonary embolism a possibility.just checked BP 98/62

I think it's brilliant doing an EKG and a cardiac ultrasound. These shall be very informative in giving a real cause of breathless, especially if it is of cardiac origin. Lung disease could also cause breathlessness, but it's very likely in your case the heart should be the problem.
Pulmonary embolism is an acute condition and associated with breathlessness. With pulmonary embolism, symptoms are acute and more severe. It's very unlikely in your case now. Proper diagnosis, treatment of heart conditions that predispose to pulmonary embolism remains important .
I think you need not bother much now. After thecardiac evaluation, your doctor should be able to make a proper diagnosis and prescribe effective medication and life style changes to prevent pulmonary embolism.
For now, it's hard to think you got it.
