What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Throat Congestion?

Question: Hi I am in deep pain. Every evening I eat something during night I have shortness of breath. Seems like my throat gets congested.Difficulty in breathing. Inflammation in throat. I HV high eiosinophil counts. When I take a combination of montair lc histac 150 and cotimax 6 ... In some time it feels like something is break my throat congestion and very thick phelgm comes out of throat in chunks. Throat becomes really itchy...its prevalent and happens almost very night. I really m not getting t cause. Is it. Cold or what that induces it. I am really sick of it.

with your description of symptoms I can think of two possibilities, first one hyperactive airway disease with infection, raised eosinophils count , evening attack favour this, which can confirmed with physical examination and few investigations like sputum test, spirometry and throat swab. Bronchodilator and montelukast medication help in this condition.

Second one sinusitis, which results in dripping of secretions to throat causing irritation and congestion. Sinus examination for pain and x-ray of sinus rules out this.

These are my advice to reduce your symptom.
Steam inhalation evening times.
Salt warm water gargling 3 times a day.
avoid spicy food for few days.
antacid medications to reduce acid secretion in stomach.
Antibiotics are needed to control infection.

With these measures need to get above mentioned investigations done with help of physician.

I use Azithromycin 500mg once a day for 5 days as an antibiotic for such cases. This is a prescription only medications. You should discuss with your local doctor if this antibiotic suits you.

Antacids which contain aluminium hydroxide gel 250mg, Magnesium hydroxide 250mg will help in neutralizing acid content in stomach. As acid re flux do causes irritation in throat in throat.

Since this is a prescription medicine, I would suggest you to meet the local Doctor to confirm the diagnosis.
