Question : my daughter has a single purple spot on her tongue. we don't know what it is. she is also recovering from a respiratory infection but I don't know if that is relevant. it is a single purple spot that is about one eight inch in diameter. what is it?

The lesion on the tongue looks like a hematoma.
It could have been caused by her illness or a minor unknown injury tongue tongue like teeth bite.
But there is nothing to worry.
It should settle soon.
If she is otherwise active and recovering , there is no.need to treat it .
Just observe and seek medical attention I'd it increases in size or becomes painful.
