Question : My son is 11 years old. He has had sinus congestion , mild fever on and off , and cough and sore throat since last Friday.( 6 days now)...I have kept him home from school and I haven't taken him to the doctor ...I thought it was a cold or bronchitis but I didn't think there was much they could do...should I take him or just continue to let him rest....his cough doesn't seem to be going anywhere but his lungs don't hurt...he only complains of a sore throat

Hello XXXXXXX This sounds mostly viral and it should resolve in another day or two.

If not, after that he does need to get checked out to see if he needs a course of antibiotics for what then might be either a bacterial bronchitis or a strep throat.
