Question: I have been diagnosed with Patulous GE junction and been given Lesuride 25 mg and longifene syrup. When I take those medications I am feeling sleepy and dull. I have restlessness and burps also reflux problem.

EVen when I take lesuride 25 (twice a day) I am feeling sleepy. Is sleepiness a side affect. Can I continue Lesuride 25.

What is patulous GE junction and how does it get back to normal.

How do I get complete cure from Patulous GE junction also can I take leusride, and for how long

No, sleepiness is not a side effect of lesuride. So you can continue taking lesuride.

The sleepiness you have is due to the longifene you take. You can discuss with your doctor about this side effect and stop longifene.

There is valve between the food pipe and the stomach called the lower esophageal sphincter. Patulous GE junction means this valve is weak/lax and predisposes you to gastroesophageal reflux disease also called as acid reflux disease.

Lesuride prevents this reflux and provides relief of symptom. But it does not correct the patulous GE junction.
The only definitive treatment for patulous GE junction is surgery.
But it is not needed. You can control your symptoms with medications.
You can initially take lesuride for about 8 weeks.

Are there any exercises to strengthen XXXXXXX How come the patulous GE junction suddenly now, as I don/t smoke or drink. What other precautions I need to take to take.

It is not sudden. But it was diagnosed now as it caused some symptoms.
Why XXXXXXX becomes lax is not known.

You need to avoid eating full stomach and eat smaller meals.
You must go to bed at least 2-3 hours after food.
You must avoid smoking/alcohol/coffee/citrus/tomatoes.

can I take lesuride 25 only when I have symptoms or do I need to take it twice daily no matter what. Because my symptoms for reflux are intermittent. Can I take one tablet daily in the night

When you have persistent symptoms, you need to take Lesuride 25 mg three times a day for a period of 8-12 weeks.

If you want to take only one tablet, then you take the sustained release tablet Lesuride SR 75 once daily.
