What Causes Slight Burn And Itching Of Urethra Track?

default
Posted on Tue, 30 Dec 2014
Question: I continue to have symptoms involving slight burn and itching of urethra track. Penis tip is very sensitive ( more than normal). And when urinating I seem to always have a dual-stream ( initially) before they merge to one stream. I would rate the burning and itch a level 2 on scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the worst. I have been tested twice for STD's, and also PSA levels. Only positive for Herpes 2. I take Valtrex for 10 years now. No outbreaks in last 2 years. breakouts were on my chin, not in genital area.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to recurrence of Herpes 2 infection or Urethritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been proved to have Genital Herpes 2 infection and taking Valtrex since 10 years.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Are you diabetic?

The symptoms that you have could be due to recurrence of Herpes 2 infection in mild form or due to inflammation of the urethra.

Please get your routine urine test and urine culture done to rule out
infection .

Swab test of a urethral discharge will help to rule out Active Herpes infection.

Please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefexime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Continue taking Valtrex

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure to drink more water. To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

In response to your question, I am not diabetic. Also, do you recommend that I show this to my local urologist to I can get a prescription for this medication? One other symptom is that I have a very weak stream when urinating. Is this just me getting older? Or could it be something else?
