Question : I have slight swelling on the right side of my stomach. It started with very sensitive skin on the right side of my back and on the ride side of my stomach. At the beginning I had spasms in about a 2 inch diameter on my back. That is gone but the swelling and slight sensitivity of the skin on both my back and stomach is still there. I have had no rash. I also have a swollen lymph node under my right arm/

Brief Answer:
Herpes Zoster or Stone.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
Such kind of presentation is mostly seen in Herpes Poster or Ureteric colic due to stone in the renal tract.
It's not essential that a rash has to be there initially in heroes zoster. A lot many times people have the same burning pain at the classical site as described by you and later the rash appears.
So in such case I would advice you to get an Ultrasound Abdomen done to rule out any stones that might be causing the pain and swelling. If the Ultrasound is clear then the possiblity of impending Herpes zoster is very high. Nothing can be done for that this time as that is a self limiting condition.
For Pain relief you may take Tramadol that would help you with the pain.
If the rash appears treatment for Herpes can be instituted.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

I understand that with shingles you don't always have a rash but would I have a swollen lymph node under my arm with shingles or with Ureteric colic? I don't have pain just slightly uncomfortable in a small place on my stomach and small place on my back.

Brief Answer:
Lymph node can be there.

Detailed Answer:
Hi. A lymph node can occur in case there is a secondary infection secondary to herpes.
Yes you are right ureteric stone may not have a lymph node.
Another possibility is that the lymph node that you have is unrelated.
Wait and watch would be the best policy for you.
