Question : Hi doc,

I have what feels like slightly swollen glands in my neck for the past year and a mild oral thrush infection. I've read a bit about hiv and sounds like it could be related. With swollen glands in hiv infection stay enlarged or just come and go with infections?

Brief Answer:
consult with the doctor and get evaluated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query.
I can understand your concern.
Swollen lymph node in the neck can be because of many reasons.
Commonest reason being, inflammatory pathology in the oropharynx, fungal infection, viral infection, lymphoma.
Other conditions like chronic granulomatous disease, tuberculosis, HIV, sarcoidosis, any carcinoma with secondary metastasis. Etc etc etc.
This needs clinical evaluation and treatment.
HIV also can cause lymph nose enlargement.
I would suggest you to consult with the doctor and get evaluated.
HIV test, blood work, chest X ray, sputum analysis , FNAC of the node are all the test needed. There is no Emperical treatment for this. so consult with the doctor and get treated.
Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
