What Causes Small Hard Pimple On Outer Wall Of Inner Labia?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Sep 2014
Question: I have a small, hard pimple-like structure on the right outer wall of my inner labia. It causes discomfort to push on it and I occasionally feel it with walking. It began yesterday. The day before yesterday I sat on a really rough boat ride for 2-3 hours. It is reddish in color (about the same color as the surrounding tissue) and about the size of a pencil eraser. I have never had anything like this before. I am married and have been with the same partner for 15 years. What treatments can I do as I am in Hawaii and not at home and can't see my doctor. I also plan to scuba dive for the next five days - help!!
I made a mistake in the first post above - should say "about the same COLOR as the surrounding tissue" and NOT "same size..."

Brief Answer:
Hi,

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
In my opinion you are suffering from bartholin cyst( it is an infection of bartholin gland present over labial lip).
Are you having pain because of this? it is infected because it is red in color.
Usually bartholin cyst confirmed by examination of a doctor but as you said it is not possible in your case then treatment option in your case are-
1) Hot fomentation(as you have already done)
2) Hot sitz bath three - four times in a day.
3) If you are having cream like Bactroban or bactriacin, you can apply it 3-4 times in a day.
4) If it is possible then take antibiotic for it.
5) If pain is there then take pain killer for it.
One more advice if it is possible then please do not go for scuba dive, it may inhance your problem.
I think I have answered your query if you have further questions I will be happy to help you.
Good luck.
Regards
Dr. Richa

Hello Dr. XXXXXXX

Thanks for your reply. It seems like I have either the B. Cyst you mentioned or a sebaceous cyst/pimple. Today it is a bit better as far as the pain and it has now come to a white head. It is the same size as yesterday. Should I pop it with a needle to drain the pus?

Based on this new information, what do you think I have and what treatments are recommended with this new information? Also, I went scuba diving today and it did not get any worse.

Thanks, XXXXXXX

Hi, Nice to see you again.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Nice to see you again.
In my opinion it is bartholin cyst but if you want to sure then see the position of the cyst.
Bartholin cyst are situated at 4&8 o' clock position.
No! you should not pop or do not use needle.
The treatment is same as advice before, it may heal with time.
Please keep the area dry and clean.
Do not use tight undergarments.
If it will not heal then drainage can be done by doctor only.
I think this information helpful to you, if you have further questions I will be happy to answered it.
Good luck.
Regards
Dr. Richa
