It would most likely be a Lipoma.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam.
The knot you feel could be a Lipoma or a lump containing fat cells. That is the commonest painless lump in this area. However one cannot be sure without examining the lump. I suggest you consult your GP or a Surgeon who can examine you and advice accordingly.
That would be required to ascertain what it is. If there is a doubt an FNAC test can be done. It is a simple test in which they insert a small needle into the lump and aspirate cells from it. The cells would be examined under a microscope to know what it is.
Do not worry. Most likely it would be a Lipoma and it would require no treatment.
Do let me know how the meeting goes and I can advice you further.
Take care.

Thank you for your response. I do have one more question. I also have a ache in my left hip. I have had it for a while and now am wondering if there may be a connection between the lump and the hip ache.
It is possible with a bony swelling but unlikely.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam,
There could be a connection between the two if the lump is arising from the hip bone or from inside the abdomen but that is very unlikely. That can be found out if you can get examined by a Surgeon. He would be able to tell whether it is a
Lipoma or not. If he suspects it to be something else then he might ask for an Ultrasound or some other imaging investigation which will clarfiy the same.
Therefore, please consult a Surgeon who would be able to confirm what it is.
It is extremely difficult to say without examining it.
Do let me know if any investigation is done and the report thereafter.
Take care,
Dr Rishi,
