Question : My sister has dicovered a small pea or bean sized lump right above her belly button which is firm to the touch, not and it is sore. Needless to say, she is concerned and of course she will see her physician ASAP, but can you give us some possible answers?

Brief Answer:
Is it sore to touch?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Can you please again specify whether it is tender to touch?
Since when does she have it?
How is overlying skin?
Does it reduce in size under pressure or increase on coughing?

Common causes of such lump are:
1. lipoma- which is firm, non tender with no other symptoms.
2.A small hernia- it reduces in size under pressure or increase on coughing
3.Small skin gland infection - tender with overlying skin inflammation.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
