Brief Answer:
Trauma to the skin of external auditory canal...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query

It is normal to find the traces of blood while using the Qtip because of the damage caused by the former to skin of the external auditory canal.

The lining epithelium of the external auditory meatus is thinner than the paper, hence, while using the Qtip the hard cotton bud scrapes off the superficial layer of the delicate skin. Following which, there will be capillary ooze which is absorbed by the Qtip.

Hence, it's not advisable to use Qtip. If at all you feel like cleaning the ear, roll the edge of a clean cloth, insert into the ear canal and clean. This is the ideal way of cleaning the ear.

Hope I have answered your query; I'll be available for the follow up queries.
