What Causes Soft Erection?

default
Posted on Tue, 18 Nov 2014
Question: My girlfriend noticed that my erections are not "as firm as they used to be." Sex is still possible but she is right. Morning erections are not as firm either. I know "soft erection" seems like an oxymoron but that is the best I can describe it. What is going on here?

Thanks....

Brief Answer:
may need treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Most men over the age of 40 find their erections are not as good as earlier. Age has the effect, and your diabetes isn't helping.
Considering the fact that you are not on any drugs which could cause you trouble if you use a drug belonging to a group called PDE5I, you can safely be started on Tadalafil 10 mg probably on an on-demand basis initially, and depending on response alter dose to lower dose daily or higher dose twice a week or so. If you do not have response clinically the way you wish it to be, it could be time to get a few tests done like serum testosterone at 8am in the morning, a penile Doppler and lipid profile.
You also need to visit a cardiologist eventually to confirm that your heart is pretty normal because the low vascularity that causes a 'soft erection' can also cause reduced cardiac blood flow a few years from now so its as hood a time as any to make sure you will not have any such trouble.
Tadalafil is a prescription drug meaning you won't be able to get it at a drugstore without prescription. So you can consult a local MD to prescribe it for you after he does a thorough clinical examination.
Hope I have been of help.
Best wishes.
