Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I'm sorry to hear about your pain. It sounds very significant. There are a number of medical problems that cause such a pain in the middle of your back. The most likely one based on your symptoms is that you have a muscular strain in the middle of your back. If this is the diagnosis then an anti-inflammatory medication and heat applied to the area should help. You should try and keep mobile and seek the help of a physiotherapist.
There are however other causes for pain in you back like this and for this reason I would encourage you to see your own physician.
The possibilities could be
1. You have a problem in your upper abdomen such as inflammation in your pancreas.
2. You have inflammation in your lungs due to an infection or other problem such as a blood clot.
3. You have a osteoporotic wedge fracture in your spine.
I hope this information is of benefit to you and that you find a solution to your pain soon.
Best wishes
