Posted on Sat, 21 Jun 2014
Question: Hi Dr. Shanthi,

Here's my question-- I have sore and pointy breasts, and am 26 days since lmp. I had intercourse 1 day after my period and was on birth control until 2 days after intercourse. I have taken several preg tests (including yesterday may 31st), all first response and they're all negative.
is this conclusive that I'm not pregnant or not? and if im not then why are my breasts sore?

Brief Answer:
it is conclusive but too early to test

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX,

I have read your query. To answer your question straight - yes, the test is conclusive. However it is too early to test now, on 26 days since LMP.

My opinion is that you are not pregnant. This I say because you had intercourse 1 day after your period, which is not a fertile period to conceive. Also, you were on birth control until 2 days later.

If you want to be sure about the test, repeat it after 35 days since your LMP.

Your breasts are sore because you might be getting your periods sooner or it could be because of the birth control pill intake.

Please let me know your further queries, I would be glad to answer them.

Regards,
