Brief Answer:
oral infection mostly viral or vitamin B deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.

Sore red tongue could be suggestive of some oral infection mostly viral or vitamin B deficiency.

Also let me know some more information about red tongue,

Since when you have noticed it?
Do you have any throat pain or fever?
Any burning sensations over tongue?

Meanwhile, you may start below mentioned symptomatic treatment which can be beneficial to you.

1) Maintain good oral hygiene and avoid hot and spicy foods.

2) Continue with mouth wash (like chlorhexidine or magic mouthwash which you have been given) for gargles for rapid healing and to prevent secondary infection.

3) Topical analgesic gel like benzydamine which is also having a local anesthetic effect.

4) Take folic acid with vitamin B complex tablets/capsules once daily to promote healing.

5) Short course of oral antibiotics would also be helpful but you will require prescription from some local doctor.

Hope this helps.
