Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are not related to HIV infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
You had protected oral sex. There was no anal or vaginal sex. Your HIV DUO test 22 weeks after that incident was non-reactive. Then there is no question of HIV.
After the act of Rimming, kissing happened, then there was every chance for a throat infection. Sore throat and fever can occur to anybody at any point of time.
You were relieved by a course of antibiotics. If your symptoms are due to HIV, then your HIV DUO test would be reactive.
So your symptoms are not related to HIV infection. It was just ordinary throat infection only. Nothing to worry

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are unlikely to be due to HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Sorry for the mistake. Even with 22 days after the incident HIV DUO test would be able to detect HIV 1 infection. Throat infection following intimate kissing is not unusual
So there is nothing to worry.

Brief Answer:
You are free from HIV infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
People with HIV and ARS symptoms will definitely show a reactive result with HIV DUO test. No doubt.
You may have to continue the antibiotics for few more days. Your symptoms are not due to HIV infection.
I had not come across a single patient so far in these 29 years of my HIV practice with the history of acquiring HIV with a protected oral sex. Rimming was done on you, and you had not tried and there is no question of HIV transmission. I had no such case also.

dear Dr ...also my body temperature fluctuates goes to 36.3 c at night and in day rises to 37.1 c. is this normal ? is rimming zero risk ? by rimming I mean that he used his tongue in my anus ...is that risky ...rimming was without protection ...after fingering ...he rimmed me ...also for future what are the safe activities and which ones are risky ? thanks
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sankaranantham Murugan (13 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Your HIV risk is negligible only

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Anal and vaginal penetrative sex are considered as high risk activities for HIV transmission and oral sex carries a low risk. Fingering, kissing are having negligible risk.
Rimming and fingering in your case have negligible risk.
Variations in body temperature in fractions will settle within few days.

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are unlikely to be due to HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Temperature variations is not a feature in HIV.
Feeling of chillnness and temperature variations can occur with fevers due to various causes like urinary tract infections, malaria, filariasis etc. So you have to meet a general physician. He/she will examine and investigate the cause.
Then after treatment you will be alright. Fingering carries negligible risk for HIV transmission.

thanks a lot Dr....so these are not symtoms of hiv right ? also is getting rimmed (person using his tongue on anus ) negligible risk ? my tests were duo tests and done 3 weeks after exposure and 4 days after I got syntoms ....do I need to repeat an hiv test ?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sankaranantham Murugan (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
HIV 1 infection is ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Your HIV risk is negligible. Your symptoms are unlikely to be due to HIV.
Your HIV DUO test 3 weeks after the risky contact ruled out HIV 1 infection and not HIV 2. HIV 2 infection is rare, less than 0.5% except in certain parts of XXXXXXX
You can rule out HIV 2 infection with the same test repeated 90 days after the incident.
