What Causes Sore Throat, Coughing And Excessive Secretion Of Mucus In Children?

Question: Hello Dr Kondekar,
I was wondering my nephew who I watch all the time may have come in contact with someone who had whooping cough he was sick for about a week but he did have his vaccination for it just seemed like a normal cold with a lot of mucous which I worked round the clock to clear for him. any ways my question is I was vaccinated when I was a child and I never really got a booster or anything is that something that is needed? I am also sick with a soar throat, swollen a little as well, no fever but lots of mucous and coughing until I puke almost and I keep burping up foam like spit I have been coughing up a lot of gunk too should I seek medical attention or just wait it out? I have had it about a week now.
