Question : hello,
I have suffered for a sore throat for about a year, and recently my hair is thinning and i have acne on my jaw line. I have weight gain, and I was wondering, could any endocrinology condition be responsible for a sore throat, plus these hormone changes? My thyroid is normal, but for alternative medicine my TSH is 3.48..T4, and T3 are normal.

Brief Answer:
A cortisol and testosterone level would be of help.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I read carefully your concerns.
Sore throat in people who have gained weight may be due to sleep apnea. It should be excluded at first.
Regarding to acne that appear at your age, further exams may be necessary especially if you have other symptoms of cortisol over production ( diffulty in loosing weight, abdominal striae, alopecia, hypertension, diabetes ect). You should talk to your physician regarding the need to check the cortisol level.
A testosteron level is also recommended to be checked.
Hope the information will help.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
