Question : my two daughters, age 7 have sore throats, had a mild fever a few days ago and now have a few red, itchy bumps on the back of their hands, right under the nostril, tops of knee and genital area. some of the bumps turn into what looks like pimples with a white head. The bumps appeared on one daughter over the weekend and now on the other daughter yesterday.

Gurgling with lukewarm water is the mainstay of treatment.

Most often sore throats are due to viral cause although they can be caused due to certain bacteria as well. Irrespective of the cause, antibiotics are not essential and all you need to do is to go for gurgling with lukewarm water. Ask your daughters to resort to the same.

About the rashes, I would insist you to upload images of the same using the facility on the upper right of this page. Based on your inputs I would be able to suggest further. Also mention specifically if any medicine has been given.

As of now, you can start giving cetirizine once daily.
