Brief Answer:
You may need to do a throat swab

Detailed Answer:
Hello

The cause for the persistent soreness can be many, however i would tell you the common causes and how to go about confirming them

The first reason may be that the bacteria causing the sore throat may be resistant to the antibiotics given and therefore the infection is still persisting. In this case i would recommend that you meet your doctor as ask for a throat swab, which will be sent for culture. Once the culture report comes, you can be started on appropriate antibiotics.

Second reason may be acid reflux, specially since you have taken antibiotics and pain killers. The reflux will make the throat sore and therefore the pain will continue. For this, normally i recommend tablet pantoprazoe with domperidone combination 40mg once a day. This will help reduce the reflux and give good relief.

I would normally also do an endoscopic evaluation of my patients, especially once the symptoms persist for more than 3 weeks.

Please discuss this with your ent doctor.

Take care
