Question : Hi
I am 54 year old female 5.4" 190lbs. Recently I have been having issues with pain/soreness around my left hipbone. The discomfort causesaty me to limp. I started taking ibuprofen today. No relief yet.
What could be the cause of this?

Thanks for the query through Health care magic platform, I understand your concern.
Looking at your complaints & age-the pain in hip bone you have can be from various causes .. as simple as bony weakness due to calcium & vitamin D deficiency/stretch, strain/ Inflammation of ligaments/ muscles or tendons taking part in joint/ arthritis of the hip itself/ pressure on the nerve supplying the part ( at hip level.. sciatica/ at spinal level - spondylitis)
You are already taking Tab. Ibuprofen ( Take 400 mg twice a day after food )-- It will take at least 24-36 hours to show relief.Combine with Rest/ ice pack( if there is swelling )/ hot fomentation . Light massage with muscle relaxant cream would help.
It should resolve over 5-7 days. If it does not.. you need consultation of your family physician for specific treatment/ referral to orthopedic surgeon or rheumatologist for expert management.
