What Causes Soreness In Head And Headache Post Head Injury?

Question: 5 days ago I fell and hit my back and head on a solid oak bed stand. I fell hard and immediately thought I must have a concussion. I took a couple of minutes before I got up to clear my head and decide if I could get up without hurting myself further. I had a golf ball size (diameter) bump on the lower right side of my skull and higher up on the back of my head. It was extremely painful. I looked at my eyes and decided that I must not have a concussion because I didn't see any difference in my pupils. I had a pretty bad headache that night and most of the next day. Since then the back of my head is still sore, the bump is gone, and I am having headaches daily. The headaches are not severe, but I just feel an uncomfortable feeling in my head that doesn't feel normal. The only other time I have experienced a headache like this is when I was taking a statin which caused very bad headaches. I no longer take statins and the headaches disappeared, until I hit my head. My question is this: Should I go to my primary care doctor? Do you think I could have a concussion?
My walking is fine, speech is fine, balance is good, no vomiting after I fell, everything else seems normal. I just have a strange feeling in y head - kind of a numb feeling with a little discomfort.

Brief Answer:
Brain imaging is not required, may be planned after discussion with doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Head injury without any other danger manifestation is reassuring and usually not associated with brain injury.
Mild concussion injury may have occurred but the pain seems to be related to external scalp injury.
At this age in such cases of head injury may lead to subdural hematoma which may or may not have features.
Diagnosis of any such thing requires brain imaging.(CT head plain with bone window)
As you have paucity of symptoms the requirement of imaging is not necessary.
You can visit a doctor for examination and assessment regarding need for imaging.
You should also be vigilant for any such symptoms.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
