Brief Answer:
Maybe demodex

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at HealthcareMagic.

Only examining the mites under the microscope can give exact diagnosis.
As they feel like white horns sticking out of hair, they may be demodex mites.

There is not much medical information on this topic, but I feel that they come from water. Thus I recommend that you drink cleaner water (reverse osmosis technique) and also for external use if you can get cleaner water. It is quite effective to control it.

Now to get rid of these mites, it can be a long and unsatisfactory journey. Whatever medications you have used are good enough to get rid of them for sometime. I feel that no prescription or over the counter medicine is much effective to treat it. You can take tab albendazole. Plus apply Lindane lotion overnight and rinse off in morning. Donot apply on face or near eyes or mouth.

Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Yes you can put in hair and scalp

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Yes you can put Lindane in your hair and scalp. But more effective will be cleaner water as these mites XXXXXXX spontaneously in some time. You do not want to get new ones from water.

Increasing immunity by doing regular exercise also helps. Sandalwood powder is also surprisingly helpful especially over the face. Sandal soap may help with sensitive skin.
