Question : I had lip implants in March. In April I got what looked like cold sores is my lower lip on the inside. It has gotten swollen and expells pus in one area. The ER put my on penicillin two days ago. My lip has gotten more swollen and very painful. What antibiotic would you prescribe? What can I do to make it go away?

Brief Answer:
Please meet your doctor!

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

It looks like that the implants have become infected and may need to be removed!

you can change your antibiotic to a higher grade like injection ceftriaxone 1 gram twice a day , but for this you will need to be admitted in a hospital, if you dont want that , you can also take tablet cefpodem 200 mg twice a day , it will be helpful.

you may also need to start on steroids to reduce the swelling, it will definitely help!

please meet your doctor for the prescription and to discuss further action.

Take care
