What Causes Splitting Of Skin And Red Bumps On Penis?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Mar 2015
Question: I noticed on the shaft of my penis a splitting of the skin after a shower a few days ago and I thought nothing of it. I cleaned out the area and put a bandaid on it. It is now ummm 4 days later, I took the bandaid off and noticed a few red bumps in the area, they are not sore or anything but I also find they are in the same area that the original cut would be if my penis would be against my pelivs. As you know when you google something like that you only think the worst. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Oral and topical antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for posting on HCM.
I have reviewed your history and picture.
It seems like you must have had some bacterial infection (Folliculitis) over the site, which seems like in healing phase right now.
I doesn't seems like any STD, still to be on safer side I would suggest you to undergo following investigations as part of routine protocol:
1. Serum VDRL test
2. Serum Human Immunodeficiency virus antibody test
3. HSV I and II Ig G and Ig M test

Meanwhile, I would suggest you 5 day course of oral antibiotic like cefadroxyl 500mg twice a day and local application of antibiotic like Mupirocin cream twice a day.
I am sure this will take care of your situation.
Thanks
