What Causes Spots On Penile Tip?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Nov 2015
Question: I've noticed for a few months now a spot on the rim of my penis that when stretched out and held in the light and certain way appears shiny and white. I don't really notice it unless I spread the skin out some and look at it in good lighting. Is this just normal skin or an std like genital warts. I've had this for months maybe even over a year and no change. The spot feels tougher than the skin next to it and might be slightly raised but can't really tell by looking at it

thank you will do. like I said you can't tell it's there unless bending the head so the light hits it just right. I do have sex often with my monogamous partner who is clean. before our relationship I did have oral sex and another encounter with 10 seconds of body rubbing.

Brief Answer:
Rim of penis is a common site of pearly penile papules which are normal

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Th rim of penis is a common site for pearly penile papules which are small, firm, white raised lesions. Usually they are numerous.
Pearly penile papules are sometimes confused with warts. However, pearly penile papules are just a normal variation and therefore can be left alone.
I would be able to see on an image if your condition resemble pearly penile palues or is something else.

I thought it might be a normal variant of a penile papsule but it was one single spot and not several so I wasn't sure. I emailed you several pics, did you get them? it was a forwarded email to YYYY@YYYY subject FWD: attention: Dr kakkar. it has about 7 attached images

Brief Answer:
Nothing like an STD; seems just a patch of dry, crusty looking skin

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I did recieve the Images. Sorry I did'nt check my mail.
On close examination it seems like a small patch of very dry skin on the rim which may have arisen secondary to some irritation like rubbing, soaps etc (the surface looks very dry as if it has adherent scale). Certainly does'nt look like a wart.
I suggest you to try a moderately potent topical steroid e.g triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream Or mometasone furoate 0.1% cream, twice daily for a week. Let me know how it goes after a week.

Regards
