Question : I had a strange reaction to something about 12 days ago and the doctor gave me a shot of celestone to bring my inflammation down. He gave it in my right bum cheek. I have had a ton of stiffness and bloating esp on my right side my calf is in a lot of pain. How long until the bloating goes away im up about 10lbs its odd but my pants arent even fitting and its very uncomfortable. I get mixed reviews but im hoping after a few weeks it will all dissipate. Any ideas?

Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that it is just a steroid injection that you have been given and it must have caused local inflammation and edema leading to swelling . Although its rare but some patients do experience these kind of symptoms which settle on their own but in case you are getting tingling and numbness in leg then that may be worrisome because that will indicate nerve injury.

If that is not the case I will expect it to settle down in a week .
